Job Description & Requirements:

General Purpose:

The Tennis Maintenance Manager is primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of the tennis courts and tennis facility in accordance with BallenIsles and members expectations. He/she must represent the company with the utmost integrity and professionalism.

Essential Duties:

  • Complies with company policies and procedures as established in the Employee Handbook, Tennis Department Operations Manual or as demonstrated as common practice.

  • Oversees and performs maintenance to tennis courts and accessory equipment including but not limited to benches and umbrellas in accordance with standard operating procedures, keeping satisfaction amongst management and the members.

  • Enforces the codes and regulations applied to a private tennis club.

  • Prepares the tennis courts for daily play. Notifies the Tennis Shop front desk of daily court conditions.

  • Repairs fences, sprinklers, tennis nets and windscreens as needed. Records all work completed in log book.

  • Maintains and replaces tennis court equipment on an ongoing basis. Conducts inventory and oversees the ordering of supplies and parts.

  • Communicates daily with the Director of Tennis on all maintenance issues.

  • Assists the Director of Tennis with inventory and budget planning for the Maintenance department.

  • Keeps informed of Club programs and special events.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Directly supervises employees in the Tennis Maintenance Department.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with BallenIsles policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree (AA); or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires operation of light machinery, such as golf carts, seated rollers, and small tractors.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to to 25 pounds. There are occasions when lifting up to 80 lbs. is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will be required to work outdoors in various climates and weather conditions.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).

Certificates/Licenses:

Valid Driver’s License is required to operate the equipment associated with performing the essential duties of this position. A acceptable driving history is required to meet the standards of insurability to be approved for driving in the scope of work.
