Job Description & Requirements:

Tennis Shop Salesperson Education and Experience

• College degree preferred but not required.
• Undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management desirable.
• Collegiate team experience desirable, preferably with a 4.5 or above rating.
• Two to three year competitive playing experience and/or tennis supervisory experience.
• Experience running junior development programs.
• Knowledge of court maintenance.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

• Able to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults.
• Plays or represents the club in Pro-Am leagues, exhibitions and USTA leagues.
• Ability to re-string, re-grip and repair rackets preferred.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)

Assist the Director of Tennis in management of all facilities and activities related to tennis. In addition organize and run successful private lessons, clinics and member leagues.

Job Tasks/Duties

• Provides group and individual tennis lessons as assigned by the Director of Tennis.
• Promote and coordinate adult in-house leagues and tennis socials.
• Communicates with Director of Tennis to schedule and publicize club tennis events.
• Assists with special tennis events and tournaments.
• Supervises other tennis staff including Tennis Shop salesperson.
• Supervises adult mixers and events.
• Manages Tennis Shop in Director of Tennis’s absence.
• Helps keep tennis facility clean and in proper order.
• Provides lessons and clinics for members and guests relating to the techniques and strategies of tennis.
• Assists the Director of Tennis with running leagues and billing.
• Scheduling the front desk staff monthly and for special events
• Training the front desk staff in new procedures and other changes that occur throughout they year for those duties.
• Participates with the Director of Tennis in all reviews for tennis staff.

Licenses and Special Requirements

• Certification with either U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR).
• USPTA Elite Professional rating preferred.
• Player ability equal to 4.5 USTA rated player.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to control natural swing speed during instruction or matches with inexperienced players.
• Sufficient stamina to tolerate hot and humid outdoor weather for several consecutive hours.
• Continuous standing, walking, running, bending, stooping and repetitive actions.
• Frequent use of light machinery and hand-held tools.
• Frequent lifting and moving of objects.
