**Major Position**

The Director of Tennis reports directly to the Director of the Sports Complex and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Tennis department. The Director of Tennis will be responsible for day to day operations related to managing a comprehensive array of tennis programs, league play, supervising the tennis administrative and professional staff, retail operations and overall leadership and operational direction.

The Director of Tennis will regularly interact with department managers, members, guests and member advisory committees. The ideal Director of Tennis should have a Bachelor’s degree, 3 or more years of progressive tennis management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar country club or luxury environment. The candidate must have energy and enthusiasm for the tennis and private club business, a tennis teaching certification and a USTA rating of 5.0 or better with the ability to play, interact and engage with all levels of members’ playing abilities. The candidate must have a proven record of successful financial and operational management skills to implement effective operational policies and procedures, meet or exceed budget expectations and achieve departmental goals and objectives.

The Director of Tennis will require leadership strength to effectively work within an established team of department directors, be an effective leader who fosters a team environment and is able to build and maintain professional connections with fellow associates. The candidate must be a passionate leader who has demonstrated success with fostering a high performance culture in a dynamic and diverse environment. The successful candidate will possess strong member relations and communication skills and the energy, enthusiasm and creativity to deliver outstanding tennis experiences and the highest level of member service.

The Director of Tennis directly supervises the Head Tennis Professional, Tennis Court Maintenance Supervisor and tennis shop staff.

Essential Duties

• Supervises all tennis play and proper charging of fees, and rental of equipment.
• Initiates, directs and promotes tennis clinics and programs in an effort to attract and maintain members’ tennis interests.
• Develops, implements and supervises lesson programs provided by instructors for adults and juniors.
• Manages all team play and coordinates with tennis team captains regarding the team selection process.
• Consistently enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property.
• Prepares a weekly/monthly/annual calendar of events.
• Manages and efficiently utilizes industry related electronic software for court request systems, membership, POS and other programs.
• Works cooperatively with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.
• Ensures proper inspection of the courts/facilities on a daily basis prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order. Reports any maintenance problems to the facilities maintenance department.
• Monitors court usage including special events, clinics and lessons.
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: tennis professionals, tennis retail and desk staff, and court maintenance staff.
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
• Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of revenue, manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve member satisfaction and positive resolution to all member related issues.
• Regular and reliable attendance and ensures proper coverage of department at all times.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Coordinate with Tournament Director on outside events as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The Club will offer a competitive compensation plan, including an annual performance bonus, as well as a comprehensive benefits package to include but not be limited to medical, dental, vision and life insurance, 401k Retirement Savings Program, paid time off and other benefit programs.

The Club is open 7 days a week, 12 months per year.
